Finally, a free Moment :)

Hi all,

Totally too long since the last time I updated. Whoops. Just moved into Chicago and still am trying to get settled.

Here are some images I may or may not use in my next project, hat making:

This is really cool, no joking.

Sooooo I finally got to Chicago after this long wait and eating up of my savings account. So now I am a poor starving artist simply applying to jobs. You know and going skydiving on Friday (Ahhhhh!)

The moral of the story and what is really cool is this new website I found that converts your writing into a picture image. It's called wordle.net and here are my two images:

Wordle: Why

These links both came from this same excerpt from a story I'm writing:

I felt absence at first, then a chilling sensation like the breath of wind cradling me in its embrace. For a brief instant serenity—then pain. It was a blinding white pulsating light, short stabs that burst from somewhere inside me all the way to the tips of my fingers. The feeling pulsated within me, lasting for an eternity. It could have been over in an instant, minutes, or days. It was timeless.
This is hell, I realized as my numb mind aches. I’m in hell. It was only after my eyes focused on my flaming limbs and I lifted them briefly in the air, reaching for salvation that everything just stopped. There was no me anymore.
Those were my last moments in the year 2010.

Sooooooooo....totally want to make this dress...

I have left this dress image open on my start-up window for firefox all summer long and am still not at a point where I can make it. It is very depressing. Hopefully that time will be soon, but who knows what lies ahead in the future sewing-wise. First might be Romeo and Juliet.

Anyway, this is 1950s vintage-esque dress.

At first I was in love with the colors, but then I started second guessing them. I'm not sure anymore if I would end up making this dress or a dress inspired by this look. I'm second guessing the neckline or the sleeves.

And now that I can't let this window on firefox officially die with this post, I am going to go back to "packing." Today that consisted of making a very crooked cake where everything basically melted off of it in a giant puddle and I covered the melted frosting and pudding with coconut shavings shhhhhh. Don't worry everyone liked it surprisingly enough. Definitely didn't look very appetizing ;p

Ah, sad timess.... no puppets for me today :(

Sadly, we all overslept to the point where seeing puppets would not work before 3pm......

So I spent the entire day looking up steampunk to do research for a comic I will hopefully be doing soon after the plotting period.

So ready? Ready? Some of the coolest images I've seen today.

Star Wars Steampunk:

Still loving Darth Vader in his steampunk form, but Obi Wan Kenobi looks super cool.

Then, everybody wants to have a computer monitor that is Victorian right?

Yup- totally would rock that in my room. And finally, I would totally love to rock this bike in Chicago: http://steubenswheelmen.blogspot.com/2008/06/outtakes.html. You should totally go to his website and check him out.

My grandparents and mom think I'm crazy, but this is what happens when I'm trapped at home all day. :)

Atlanta

Hey-o,

Soooo Buck's Rock Camp is over and so, naturally, I drove from Connecticut to Maryland and just flew in to Atlanta to visit my g-parents.

Today I spent a wonder magnificent day checking out vintage and novelty stores at Little Five Points, which I completely recommend to anyone in or traveling through the Atlanta area.

My grandpa was waaaay too worried about us not taking the highway and going through rough areas, but on the way back we definitely didn't pass through anything horrible not like my trips into Baltimore on 40 and into Chicago from Oak Park :).

Sooooo one over-priced but adorable 1950s vintage dress later, I am super excited for the next Atlanta adventure.

Maybe at some point I'll post a picture of my dress, but I need a belt and a few other things first :).

Next trip = puppet theatre and I am SOOO taking pictures and putting them up.

Buck's Rock Camp -- Twelfth Night

Hey ya'll.

SO I currently am at Buck's Rock Visual and Performing Arts camp in cow-ville CT and just finished my designs for the summer, finishing up with Twelfth Night. A lot of different concepts got thrown around from Tropical to Atlantis, but in the end the show became a very period to post modern flow.

Below is a look at Olivia's costumes. She starts off as Queen Elizabeth-esque and then moves into an abridged Edwardian look until finally the post modern Victorian silhouette. The show ended up being almost Steampunk. I'm not exactly certain how it would be classified since it started off Elizabethan and ended post modern instead of being a sort of Gothic post modern Victorian industrialization look.

Next show I'm working on is assisting Kiss Me Kate. I am making three hats and fixing a wig. Stay tuned for pics of that.
